We need to create an integration user and configure the "Managed Service" billing codes.
Create a New Autotask User
First we need to log into Autotask using a valid username and password. Once we have logged in successfully, display the navigation menu by hovering over the the Autotask logo in the upper left corner of the browser window. Move the mouse down the list so that the Admin menu is displayed.
Choose Resources (Users) under the Commonly Used category. If it is not showing there, then choose Features & Settings, expand Resources/Users (HR) and click on Resources/Users.
Click on the +NEW button in the upper left area of the browser window.
The Resource Management - New window appears. Fill in the required fields on the General tab.
Now move to the Security tab. Verify the pre-populated Username and provide and confirm a secure password.
This part is the most important part: The user must have the Security Level set to Full Access.
Continue through the other required tabs to complete the user setup. The remaining setup tabs are not relevant to integration with the MSP application.
Managed Services Billing Code
Display the navigation menu by hovering over the the Autotask logo in the upper left corner of the browser window. Move the mouse down the list so that the Admin menu is displayed. Under Admin Categories choose Features & Settings.
Now select FINANCE, ACCOUNTING, & INVOICING which will expand and present more options.
Select Billing Codes.
You will be presented with the Work Types tab, but select the Service tab, which should be the fifth one across the top.
Please Note: For integration to work properly a billing code with the exact name of Managed Services must exist. If "Managed Services" is not listed then click on the +New button.
Enter Managed Services as the Name in the NEW SERVICE CODE dialog and Save it.
If "Managed Services" is not set to Active, as indicated by the checkbox in the far right column, then use the Edit icon on the far left.
Check the box for Active and Save it.
At this point we have completed the necessary configuration changes in the Autotask web application. You can proceed to the MSP web application and configure the integration using your ProfitBricks credentials and the Autotask user credentials that were created in this tutorial.
